A Program of the Kinship Mutual Aid Foundation
Food, freely given.
Joy's Kitchen rescues, sorts, and redistributes fresh food to thousands of families across Colorado — no requirements, no qualifications, no conditions. Just community care.
Joy's Kitchen began with a simple question: what if the food going to waste could go to families instead?
Today, we rescue hundreds of pounds of food each week — sorting, organizing, and distributing it to more than 3,000 families a month through our community sites in Denver and Lakewood. We work without barriers. There are no income thresholds to meet, no paperwork to fill out, no proof of need required.
If you need food, Joy's Kitchen is here.
From rescued food to family tables.

How It Works
Rescue
We partner with local sources to intercept food before it becomes waste — turning surplus into sustenance for families who need it.
Sort
Volunteers — many of whom also receive food through our program — prepare and organize each week's distribution with care and community.
Distribute
Fresh groceries go directly into the hands of families at our public distribution sites. Open to everyone, every time, no questions asked.
"At Joy's Kitchen, there's no separation between giver and receiver."
Approximately 98% of our volunteers also receive food through our program. This is our philosophy.
We don't believe in charity from a distance. We believe in showing up together. The person sorting the groceries may be the same person taking them home. That's mutual aid. That's kinship.
